Artificial Intelligence generates a lot of hype, but is it warranted? As AI has morphed into a marketing buzzword rather than a technical term, it is easy to get overwhelmed when presented with products that are touted for their innovative and transformational applications of AI. This presentation is based on the speaker’s Doctorate research on Adversarial Machine Learning, and seeks to cut through the misinformation and hype that surrounds AI, and discuss can AI can also be ‘hacked’. The talk will arm audience members with the tools to interrogate AI products through demystifying what AI is (and what it isn’t), the factors that impact successful integration of AI into a capability or organisation, and questions to ask when considering the application of AI to Defence and national security contexts.
