Brian graduated from the Royal Military College in 1985 and began an extensive career spanning over 30 years as an Army Officer. He has worked at the tactical, operational and strategic level in a variety of command and staff appointments. He has seen operational service as a United Nations Military Observer in East Timor (2001) and as the head of the Afghanistan National Security Forces Development Branch in Regional Command South, Kandahar, Afghanistan (2013 – 2014).
Upon leaving the Army in 2017, Brian became a Security Manager for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with responsibility for the planning, implementation and provision of security to five major sporting venues. He assumed his current appointment as the Coordinator of Corporate Security at Gold Coast City Council in 2018 and in addition to a number of other key initiatives, is currently overseeing the Occupational Violence and Aggression Prevention Campaign within Council.
Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (UNSW), Bachelor of Economics Degree (UQ), Masters in Defence Studies (UC) and an MBA (USC). He holds a number of honours and awards including the Meritorious Service Medal (USMC), the Bronze Star (US Army) and was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross in the Australia Day Honours list 2012.
