Julian Claxton

A veteran security professional with over 30 years of experience, Julian Claxton’s expertise spans security and risk management, investigations, counterespionage, and behavioural science across government, industry, and for key executives in Australia and abroad.

In 2000, Julian founded Jayde Consulting (incorporated in 2006), which has since earned a strong reputation as a trusted provider of specialist technical surveillance countermeasure services, threat and behavioural intelligence, and insider threat management. Julian and his team maintain a high level of training, continually developing their counterespionage and behavioural analysis skills through ongoing research and collaboration with professionals worldwide.

Julian has advised the NSW Police Force on industry licensing matters (as a former two-time SLED Advisory Board Member) and provided technical services to Australian law enforcement bodies. He is also engaged by government agencies to provide support, services, and counsel on countersurveillance and insider threat management. His consultancy work spans sectors including finance, mining, technology, politics, defence, and law, where his clients value his discretion and insight.

Julian is widely respected for his integrity, attention to detail, and expansive professional network. Many of his clients have retained his services for over a decade, appreciating his discreet approach to security risk management, credibility assessments, and counterespionage.

Julian remains internationally active, frequently speaking at conferences across both government and private sectors. He is a member of ASIS International, the Australian Information Security Association, and a Founding Member of the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures Institute (UK). He also holds current membership and is a former board member of the Australian Institute of Professional Intelligence Officers.

Academically, Julian holds a Master of Science in Communication, Behaviour, and Credibility Analysis and a Postgraduate Diploma in Behavioural Analysis and Investigative Interviewing. He has also completed diplomas in Government Investigations and Security and Risk Management, along with specialised training in linguistic analysis, technical surveillance countermeasures, and other related fields. His master’s thesis examined the correlation between deception, impression management, and their relevance to insider threat management and credibility analysis.

Julian continues to research topics related to trusted insiders and behavioural profiling, applying his knowledge to enhance security frameworks for his diverse client base.
