Nick de Bont

As the Chief Security Officer for Thales Australia and New Zealand, Nick de Bont leads the Corporate Security team at Thales, overseeing national security for over 100 complex and classified projects spanning Aerospace, Defence, Digital Identity, Communications, and Cyber Security. He previously worked at the Commonwealth Bank Group where he was responsible for security for 13 countries, 50,000 employees and 1200 business sites.

Nick is the Chair of Thales Veterans committee and continues to serve in the Australian Army Reserve as a Colonel. With deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and East Timor, he has contributed significantly in specialist intelligence roles. In addition, he has six years of experience in the Department of Foreign Affairs working in areas such as counter-terrorism, transnational crime, and international diplomacy.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of International Business and is a qualified Solicitor in the Supreme court of Queensland. He also has various diplomas and training certifications in intelligence analysis, security, risk management, personnel management, and close protection.
