Jason Brown

Jason Brown is the CEO of Cadentis/Cinnteacht PL, a consortium-based consultancy for risk, security, business continuity and crisis management.

From 2021 to 2024 he served Principal Advisor on Risk and Security to the CEO and Board of Directors, Thales Australia and New Zealand and 2004 to 2021 as National Security Director for Thales in Australia and New Zealand.  He was responsible to maintain strategic responsibility for international trade control and security liaison with government, law enforcement and intelligence communities to develop cooperative arrangements to minimise risk to Thales and those in the community that it supports.

Before joining Thales in 2004, Jason had 27 years experience in Commonwealth Government with appointments which included:

  • Assistant Secretary – Defence Imagery and the Geospatial Organisation; responsible for personnel, capability, security and education and training.
  • Director General – Safety, Compensation and People Development; Introduced, on behalf of CDF and Secretary, the SES band 1 and 2 Capstone program and directed the certification of Defence Civilian training to AQTF recognition.
  • Assistant Secretary – Defence Security, in addition to the security leadership of the group, chaired the Defence Security Committee and acted as Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Sweden and the US on negotiations of security treaties and agreements.
  • Various appointments at SES level in the Attorney General’s D Branch Security portfolio in the areas of counter terrorism and security policy and investigations, this included management of the national security threat assessments, membership of the Committee for Protection from Political Motivated Violence (now NCTC),

Board and committee positions include:

Chair of the International Standards Committee for Risk Management (ISO TC262) 2017 to 2023. As chair he managed the international secretariat and a membership of 61 participating countries and 27 observing countries and liaisons including multiple UN agencies https://committee.iso.org/home/tc262

  • Member of the ISO/IEC JTC1 – Cyber Vocabulary and Terminology and SC27 Cyber Security, standards for the protection of information and ICT. https://www.iso.org/committee/45306.html
  • Member of Standards Australia JTC1 Strategic Advisory Group
  • Convenor of the ISO 28000 Supply Chain Security Standard revision 2019 – 2023.
  • Chair of the Export Control Australia Group (ECAG) is a special interest industry group, established in 2024, with a primary focus on export and trade control matters. https://www.ecag.com.au/

Jason has a number of publications in the areas of client service, risk management, event management, intelligence management and security.  He was awarded the Australian Security Medal for Conspicuous Service in February 2011.  In 2019 IFSEC International recognised him in the top 20 globally influential persons in Security and Fire Management.

He is a nationally and internationally recognised educator and presenter in risk, resilience and security.  He has provided presentations and training for multiple international events including, UK, USA, Canada, Jordan, Republic of Korea, UAE, Netherlands, Serbia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Recent workshops in 2024/25 include: Safeguarding AI and Infrastructure in a Quantum Future – Belgrade Digital Supply Chain – Geneva and Standards and compliance for regulators – Barcelona.
