Cindy Briscoe commenced with the Department of Agriculture in October 2016. In her role as Deputy Secretary Portfolio Strategy and Services Group and Chief Operating Officer, Cindy is responsible for its Enterprise Strategy and Governance, Legal, Digital Services, People, Property and Security, Finance and Investment, and First Nations engagement.

Cindy has more than 30 years’ experience in the Australian Public Service. She has been a member of the SES since 1998 and has held senior positions at the Department of Human Services, the Australian Taxation Office and ComSuper.

Prior to commencing with the department Cindy was a Deputy Commissioner in the Australian Border Force. Cindy also held a number of positions within the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, including Deputy Secretary, Immigration Detention and First Assistant Secretary, People. Cindy led work on the merging of Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and the creation of the Australian Border Force.

Cindy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computing Studies and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is an Australia and New Zealand School of Government Executive Fellow.
